My name is Sharon Cole and I was born in the parish of Manchester on the beautiful island of Jamaica. As a young teen, I migrated to the United States and my family and I currently reside in New Haven, Connecticut.

As a child, cooking was not an activity I enjoyed. I preferred spending my free time in my bedroom, curled up with a good book.  My mom tried to engage and inspire my interest in cooking but I viewed all meal preparation activities as chores to be endured.  While I loved eating, and enjoyed foods from all different cultures, I simply had no desire to prepare the meals I relished.

In 1999 I got married and my life changed completely. The dietary needs of my family kept me in the kitchen. Wanting my children to experience "my childhood" meals and other cultural cuisines, I contacted my Mom almost every day so she could teach me how to prepare my favorite childhood dishes.  In addition, I began researching the internet for new ideas.  In my pursuit of creating nutritious, flavorful "fun" meals my family could enjoy, my excitement for meal preparation grew and my catering skills evolved.

Learning the art of cooking is a wonderful experience. I told myself, “If I get to enjoy cooking, I’ll have my own catering business or restaurant one day.” Cooking, which I once viewed as a chore, and is indeed hard-work, is now an activity I love. Captivated by the aroma of the spices and seasonings, creating presentations that awe, while stimulating appetites is now my passion. Today, one of my greatest satisfaction is providing my family and friends with nourishing, tasty, stimulating and enjoyable meals. As my family and circle of friends expanded, so did my cooking skills; and with their excitement and delight for my meals, the idea of starting a home-based catering service was born.

Sharing this desire with my family was easy, getting started was a challenge. The dream to start my catering business, though deferred, just would not die.  With the encouragement and support of my family, especially my youngest two children, I stepped out in faith and began my journey to actualizing my dream.  Today, Cassanova Catering, LLC offers professional catering services that seeks to meet your needs and make your next event a stress-free one.
